Vetericyn - Pet Product Review & Giveaway

I want to share one of the items in my dog first aid kit with you.
I keep a bottle of Vetericyn in my first aid kit.   Vetericyn is available in 3 formulas:  Wound & Skin Care, Ear Rinse, and Eye Wash.  The ingredient list on all 3 formulas is the same.   Each label does have different instructions.  I think the purpose of the different packaging is to explain the correct way to clean wounds on different body parts using Vetericyn.
Vetericyn is great for cleaning wounds, and it is safe to use on all species of animals.  Cleaning a wound is one of the first things humans do to help prevent infection from setting in.  A clean wound usually heals faster, and better, than a dirty one.   A month ago, I had a little stye on my eyelid that I scratched open.  Mom cleaned it with Vetericyn, and phoned the vet's office to see if they had time available to check my eye.   When we saw the vet a few minutes later, Mom told them she had cleaned my ruptured stye with Vetericyn.  The vet said that was fine, and cauterized my stye.  I was also given a prescription eye gel to use 3 times a day for a week.  I am happy to say that my ruptured stye healed without infection.  The fur has already grown back.
Did I mention that I had to sleep in a cone so I wouldn't scratch open where it had been cauterized?
Baron had a little allergic conjunctivitis in his eyes just before I ruptured my eye stye.  He was on prescription eye drops to clear up the conjunctivitis.   I loaned Baron the Vetericyn eye wash to help clean the gunk off the fur around his eyes.   It worked great.   He goes to the same vet that I do.   Since his eye infection was before I had my stye, he brought the bottle to the vet to ask about it.  They said that they know Vetericyn, it is what they use to clean ears.  (Mom actually used the ear one on my stye because Baron still had the eye one.)  I feel really good knowing that Vetericyn is a product used in my vet's office.  I know what Mom will be using to clean my ears with from now on.  BOL!   Vetericyn also comes in a spray bottle for skin wounds like hot spots.  I don't get hot spots, so I haven't tried it on one.   Baron hasn't had a hot spot since I received the Vetericyn, so I couldn't use it on him either.   I am glad that I have it in my first aid kit, just in case something happens.   Obviously, I hope nothing happens because I don't want to get hurt.
I did say that I would share this wonderful first aid product, so.........Giveaway time!

  1. We used the Wound and Skin Care on a hot spot that Bruce developed on his flank. It cleared it right up!

  2. I could definitely use this, particularly the wound and skin care formula as Sookie gets quite a few cuts and scrapes on her hairless body. :)

  3. We have a furst aid kit, and this would be a welcome addition! Our vet gives us a little bottle of panalog fur our ears. Mommy calls it Magic Juice, because it also clears up all kinds of skin eruptions and boo-boos! Vetericyn sounds like it works the same way!

  13. Oh Yes! Because I volunteer in animal rescue, and I specialize in ferals, which a vet has to put under before they can even touch them, I have everything from I.V. bags, to both viral and infectious antibiotics on hand at all times. I even keep a Brinks fireproof box stocked with essential antibiotics because I live in earthquake country. So one day I will likely have to fish that box out of the rubble that was once my house.
