Tagg Tracker - Product Review

You can run, but you can't hide.
The Tagg Tracker will help your humans find you!
This pawsome little device attaches to your collar or harness.   It is designed to fit pets who weigh 10 or more pounds.   I weigh 13.5 pounds, pawfect!

Tagg is available in white, gray, pink, and blue, they also makes stickers that you can order to decorate your Tagg Tracker.

Tagg uses cell phone and GPS technology to tell your human where you are.  If you leave the designated area (your set Tagg zone), it will send a text or an email telling your human that you've escaped.  It will even message you when the battery is low or if the Tagg unit detaches from your collar or harness
If your human gets a text saying you are outside the Tagg zone, they can activate one of 3 features to find you: locate, track, or trail.   Your human will be able to view a map (online/cell phone)  that shows your location.   Nothing is 100% foolproof, but if you are a dog that loses your collar, the location of your collar will at least give your human a starting point and possible direction for their search.
If you are with your human, they can ignore the message.  It has a trip button that suspends texts for 15 minutes.  The trip button is useful for short walks.   If you escape, your human can still activate the tracking feature when the unit is in trip mode.   I am usually working (Service Dog) when I leave my Tagg zone.  Work involves riding in the car, running errands, etc.  Work is normally more than 15 minutes.  BOL!!   Mom usually forgets to press the trip button every 15 minutes, so she just ignores the messages if I am with her.

To update your Tagg settings and to charge your Tagg unit, your human attaches the Tagg unit to its base.  When the Tagg is near the base, it uses a battery saving mode.  When you are away from the base, it will use the battery faster.  I charge mine the night before when I have a full day away from home planned.  You can bring the base with you when you travel and change your Tagg zone to your hotel.  This way you won't go missing while traveling.   I wore mine on my last trip in December.

On small dogs, they recommend attaching the Tagg to a harness.  The Tagg Tracker is about 3 inches long (including the flexible gray antennas), and weighs about an ounce.  Below are pictures of the Tagg on my harness.  This is how I wear it when I am away from home.

As you can see, my harness is heavy duty, so I only wear it when we leave the house.  When we are staying home, I wear the Tagg Tracker on a collar.  You can barely see it under all my fluff.  It would be more visible on a short furred dog or cat than it is on me.  BOL!  It would show even less if my house collar was fitted instead of extra loose.  (My house collar is extra loose because a fitted collar breaks my fur more.  When I go out, I wear a fitted collar with my jingly tags.)
Mom has her hand under the loose collar to lift it out of my fur so you can see it.
Why am I wearing a collar with the Tagg at home?  To get more cookies of course!
Tagg can keep track of your activity to show if you get enough exercise.   More exercise means more cookies! Right? (Hint!)
It keeps track of all your activity, sort of like a human's pedometer, but better.
Your human can look at charts of your activity online and decide if you need more exercise, or if you can have a cookie! (Hint! Hint!)

Tagg has guidelines for recommended activity points by energy level, with a few breed examples.   I am a small dog, and not as hyper as most in my breed.   All of the small breeds listed are in the lower energy category (even the ones you think are hyper.  BOL!!)  I am more active than you think.  I was earning more points than the lower energy range, so Mom set my goal in the middle of the medium energy range.  My Tagg point goal is 280. . I think that means I can have a cookie!   (Do you think I want a cookie?  BOL!)
My daily activity report.

My activity history report.

Some days I go over my Tagg point goal, other days I don't quite reach it.  (I can have a cookie if I go over my point goal!).  I wonder if I will earn a cookie tonight!

If you wore a Tagg Tracker, which feature do you think you would use the most?

  5. Hey I like that idea of tracking and earning a cookie the only problem you said it was for dogs over 10 pounds. I am 9.6 pounds when I went to the vet on Saturday.

If a person's dog manages to get out of a fence this is a great idea instead of looking all over the neighborhood just view it from your phone and the text message allows you to get them before they get too far. Excellent idea

  6. How cool is that! I think it would be definitely worth-while as an alert to let you know if the dogs get out.
